Here is a link to an interesting article, (and a link to another article) on Mnn.com. One family kept track of what they grew and figured out the retail value – it came out to a whopping $2,548 if purchased organically (which was how it was grown). I’m going to pay attention to what I grow this season. How much will mine add up to? I’m guessing their garden was a bit bigger than mine, but I think the value of the produce will be considerable.
The old arguement used to be, “by the time you pay for water, seed and fertilizer, you’d be better off buying the produce at the store”. I think this article refutes that.
