Orchard Gardens hosted a book signing and meet & greet with Willi Galloway, Master Gardener and author of “Grow, Cook, Eat”.
Willi is formerly from Seattle and now makes her home (chickens and all) in Portland. She talked to us about gardening in our peculiar cold, wet climate. She told us about several topics that were new to this writer – using cloches (bell jars), row covers and other devices to warm and protect plants in our climate, using plastic sheeting to warm the soil before planting here, and how to deal with pests. Willi showed us her new book, which explains how to grow vegetables and herbs and then how to use them in cooking.
Her book is available on Amazon.com, and is beautifully photographed and written.
